Kitchen and Bath Classics, a global retailer of plumbing fixtures, lighting, and more, has been operating out of their prime location on Yukon St in Vancouver for decades, but in recent years their sales have slumped in part due to an aging showroom that didn’t have the wow factor it once did. After completing several small fix ups over the course of two years, management finally decided to make the investment in a full facelift, but knowing that sales hadn’t been great they had some pretty limiting budget considerations.
Highlands scope of work included installed new flooring, lots of custom built product displays, custom designed cabinetry built on site, new millwork, doors, and trim, new lighting, and a new boardroom complete with custom ceiling details and custom glass doors.
The crown jewel of this project is the functional shower display at the back of the showroom. The custom made enclosure showcases 6 shower heads, 4 overhead rain showers, six hand held wands, a combination wall unit with shower head and wand, a steam unit with three sets of vents and electronic controls, and custom colour changing led lighting. Each of the 14 fixtures is controlled by an electric solenoid so the customer can push the button and instantly see how each fixture works. All the technical components of the steam unit etc are also visible on the right side through a plexiglass panel. This really is a thing of beauty.
Special thanks to Cosentino and Canadian Countertops for providing and fabricating the control panel, to Huard Distribution for providing the Hydro-Blok to create the waterproof enclosure and invisible linear drain, Tidal Mechanical for their flawless execution (including over 400′ of water lines for this display), Suter Brook Electric for the seamless connectivity of the entire system, and to Italian Design Flooring for yet another perfect tile installation.
The entire Highlands team worked very hard on this project from concept to completion and I’m thrilled with the result. Well done team!!
